Lucy Liu was born in the US. Liu is an American singer, actress and voice-over artist. Being a smart and beautiful actress, Lucy Liu serves as a role model to several Asian actors who are in Hollywood who wish to make it big. Her fame was boosted by several popular roles in series. The most notable was The Ally McBeal series, where she portrayed Ling Woo the villainous character. Her new-found fame was translated into roles that were filmed on the large screen in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels as well as other movies. She delivered a stunning performance in the role of Japanese gangster O-Ren Ishii (Quentin Tarantino) in Kill Bill Volume 1 by Quentin Tarantino. While she was in the film her role as an actor in films that failed of the box office like Rise: Blood Hunter were equally prominent. After that, she started to voice prominent characters in animation films such as Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia and other small screen roles failed to bring her any success. Southland, a critically acclaimed series of police dramas which included Liu in multiple roles, helped her reestablish her status as a performer. Liu is very careful in picking her roles to ensure that she is not cast in a very competition-driven industry.
