Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children later on, realized early that she was able to escape the hardships of her life by using a imaginative mind. Before learning how to write and read Dolly Parton was composing her own music. When she got her first guitar at age of 8, she began to play on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. The following year, she made her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. While in high school, she was able to establish herself within the community, but her goals were bigger. After graduating high school in 1964, she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first album to be charted at the top of Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show was in need of an additional singer around the time. Parton took the offer in 1967 signed to RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. The show was cancelled by Wagoner, but in 1974, because her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations.
