Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN and HLN. She is often featured on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. Prior to joining CNN in June of 2015, she worked as a meteorologist at the local station in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a meteorologist for hurricanes and blizzards as well as flooding, wildfires. She was honored with an Emmy for the coverage she provided of Dorian, a hurricane that struck the Bahamas. Dorian which struck the Bahamas, in 2019. In April 2011 she covered an outbreak of Super Tornados, in which 350 tornadoes struck Southeastern United States within four days. The worst of them were recorded on the 27th of April 2011. Her background being an ecoscientist has made it possible for her to publish stories concerning climate change, as well as natural disasters, such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and more. Chinchar graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society as well as the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
